Like him or not, Pat Buchanan is a lot more than a news columnist, and he has, himself, run in presidential primaries.
I would suspect that his background would at least make him your equal in calling races.
I think conservatives are down to 2 choices. If you reside in Iowa or New Hampshire get down to caucus or vote for Fred Thompson or Ron Paul. Duncan Hunter is the best but has no organization or financing.
Whoever does the best between Thompson and Paul is the candidate we should get behind in the primaries down the line.
McCain has been right on Iraq and wasteful spending like earmarks but not much else. He opposed conservatives on illegal immigration, campaign finance, tax cuts, amending US constituion on homosexual marriage, waterboarding nonsense. He is consistant however and doesn’t change his positions based on public opinion polls.
Huckabee, Guliani, and Romney records are too much like Democrats. Gov Huckabee didn’t even replace Gov Bill Clinton’s people in Arkansas when he was governor.
