Indentured Servitude.
I have noticed quiet a few signs lately posted at businesses, that warn that this is against Federal Law.

goes into the pockets of corrupt politicans and their cronies. Its a way of life in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
This reminds me of similar problems from the flood in New Orleans, except the job offer would have been taken as an insult. And they wrote the book on corruption.

How about once you pay off the mortgage on your home, you no longer pay property taxes?

Only $7 an hour? How can these people afford their daily ration of cat food at those wages??!!...
Seriously though, it never occurs to these people that they desperately need to cut their taxes, instead of putting Grandma to work for the County to work off her tax debts....

And THIS is why the only people that could vote when this country was started were landowners.
Those that don’t have take from those who do using the ballot box.
Amazing how his story is reported without any outrage that this town is turning the poor elderly into indentured servants.
Remember welfare reform and the howls of protest because people would have to work for their check?
Doesn’t fit the agenda I guess.

Ah, okay. So that’s why a previous article mentioned this benevolent plan having to pass muster with unions.

and thanks to the alternative minimum tax (amt) i bet many seniors wont deduct the property taxes from their income tax returns.

Our property taxes are too high? I know, let's enslave grandma! It's times like this I wish I didn't have to breathe the same air as tax-and-spend types.
But they will have a solution for us soon:

Keep in mind that this is just a town, and its portion of the $12,000 tax bill is $2,000. So the town could completely eliminate its own portion of the property taxes, and she still wouldn’t be able to afford the $10,000 bill remaining.
These people should have passed the equivalent of California’s Prop 13, where the property tax is not based on the current assessed value but is based on the purchase price plus max 2% increase per year. That means the property tax bill won’t go up faster than inflation. If somebody can afford the property taxes when they buy the place, they should always be able to afford them.

So people that are wealthy enough to pay cash for their home pay nothing in property taxes ? Even if they have 6 kids in public schools, and use other taxpayer funded services ?

$12,000.00 seems pretty steep. Perhaps it is time for her to downsize. Perhaps it is time for the d@mn govmt to downsize, and free their debt slaves.

This is so wrong.
Taxation of real property is straight out of the Marxist playbook.
It never should have happened in this country, and things have gotten way out of hand.
The baby-boomers are the ones responsible for letting the government get away with this and for supporting an out of control public school system that thrives on property taxes. The boomers will be the first to feel the brunt of this, as they lose their homes they’ve spent their lives paying off. Pitiful.

LET ALONE NO FREE HEALTH CARE FOR YEARS OF PAYING TAXES Why would paying your taxes to support the local schools and pay for police and fire protection entitle you to free health care? If the police and fire aren't free, why should the doc's be free? I think there's an olympic sized leap of logic here.

Have you seen any of these massive retirement packages, free health care plus other bennies retirees get from the feds, state county and city jobs. Their are allot of old folks who worked their whole lives to help build this country let alone die for. The least they should get is some comfort and dignity in the non productive years. Cut off the young free loaders and illegals from free money and health care and we will have surpluses to aid those who have earned some benefits.
