Actually Rush didn't really engage the campaign until Ed Rollins, Huckabee's campaign manager, basically affirmed what the unnamed Huckabee operative said. And his "attacks" have been in the form of legitimate questions about Huckabee's record and positions.
Why can't Huckabee supporters discuss his record? Why must every legitimate question be met with personal attacks?

A question isn't voting for a conservative Rush endorses "identity" politics?

Why must every legitimate question be met with personal attacks?Because Huckabee is running an identity campaign: vote for what he is, not for what he's done. If you're running an identity campaign, then every question is a personal attack.
