What really does Israel expect to glean from this trip other than disingenuous assurances that nothing the Russians have contributed to Iran poses any threat to Israel?

Nothing diplomatically is going to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. One subject that I haven't seen addressed anyone, one which truly deserves to be responded to is the reason why the Iranians abandoned their program. It seems inexplicable to me that a group as megalomaniac as there ever was would decide to unilaterally give up a device that would enhance their power infinitely in the acquisition of a nuclear capacity. I would love to hear the rationale why Iran would do so. And until this can resolved its safe to assume Iran never thought otherwise.

Well, at least the Israelis know they've done everything possible to avoid what will hopefully be the Mad Mullahs final comeuppance.

It seems like there has been plenty of talking going on. Between Iran, DPRK, Syria, Russia and China.
