Russia to set up missile shield for Iran

MOSCOW: Russia will set up a massive anti-missile shield in Iran that will virtually guarantee the country against military attacks.

Moscow will supply Tehran with the advanced long-range S-300 surface-to-air missile complexes, informed Russian sources said.

“Several dozen S-300PMU-1 complexes will be delivered to Iran under a contract signed several years ago,” the Interfax news agency quoted a defence industry source as saying on Wednesday. He said deliveries could start as early as next year.

Another Russian defence source told the Kommersant daily that Moscow was planning to sell Iran five batteries of S-300 launchers at a price of $800 million. A typical S-300PMU-1 battery contains 48 missiles on 12 mobile launchers.

Did they ask for the same stuff the Syrians have?

This is the tenth iteration of the news and still Iran can waste its precious oil revenues any way they wish.

Understand this worked really well in Syria.

We should encourage this. ;-)

I question the collective intellect of the Mid East countries that continue to buy Russian "state of the art" advanced systems, only to die in them, year after year, war after war, decade after decade, each time thinking, "this time we have the good stuff," only to be incinerated in it.

Oh well.

The Ruskies have a tough enough problem protecting their own. We’ll see how fast planes go in and out of there without being detected...

Our Government is trying hard to get into the coalition of the nations in that list, but they don't seem to be warming up to us.

China and Russia are in coalition against no one. They have useless crap for sale, and plenty of idiotic buyers to sell it to.

"BAHAHAHAHA. A fool and his money are soon parted."

...except that the money will continue to flow into Iran. The NIE surrender didn't work as expected, and oil is near $97. That's alright, though. It will take Iran, Syria, Sudan, the Saudis and others years to have a few hundred nukes. And we all know as to how reasonable they are. MAD works.

Applied Materials, Chinese rival face legal battle
EE Times ^ | December 25, 2007

"The motion is part of a suit filed by Applied Materials against China's AMEC in October of 2007. Applied's suit, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California here, claims that AMEC is allegedly involved in misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and unfair competition...In fact, the suit contends that 30 former Applied engineers now work at AMEC [in China]."
