''There will be a tremendous demand on labor, and a shortage is a concern because we deal with a perishable product,'' he added.
Supply and demand is an interesting concept, he may want to read up on it and find a legal way to solve his problem.

I guess those “in your face demonstrations with Mexican flags” worked out well for them....

There will be a tremendous demand on labor, and a shortage is a concern because we deal with a perishable product,'' he added. The free market will take care of the problem. He will have to pay more for labor, and I will have to pay a nickle more the next time I have to buy "pole beans".

[Adding to the turmoil: a slowing economy.]
Job reductions will hurt illegals and they will be forced to return to the homeland. We are seeing this in AZ and they are whining big-time. (visualize world’s smallest violin).

Immigrant workers endure longer periods between jobs or have lost jobs because they cannot prove they are in the country legally.Umm, they cannot prove that they are in the country legally because they are not in the country legally.

” Several immigrants without work papers are seeing job opportunities dry up and said they’re thinking of packing up and leaving employers who count on their cheap labor and seasonal work. “
Now which is it? Are the jobs drying up, or are illegal immigrants leaving employers who are counting on them? I’m sure whether the author decides on one or the other, or thinks we’re stupid enough that he can get away with propagandizing about two opposite crises a the same time, it will be the fault of the ULTRA Right-wing baby-killing Nazi racist conSERvatves (deep sigh).
Something’s working. Keep it up.

As all these illegals self-deport and the labor pool decreases, the price of wages will increase. Will the democrats then want to lower the minimum wage to make for this?

Well Said.
Pardon my french, but I wish the illegals and their employers only the greatest of difficulties in the coming year. But then, it’s an election year. All they have to do is buck up and wait it out, eh?

“Evidence suggests immigrants are sending less money back to their families in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Yeah they pay no taxes and boost up their homeland economy while running up the tab on benefits that U.S. citizens pay.
Toodles!

Great read. Soothing.
However, it is pap meant to soften critics and fire up supporters of illegals. It’s an election year. Politicians have to kiss our butts, for a while, anyway.

Once again media filth in high dudgeon about Homeland Security
supposedly doing its job. There have been a huge number of these "poor 'ol illegals suffering at the hands of the law" articles in numerous papers and the AP in the past few weeks. They are trying to convince the average citizen that the government is actually doing what they are supposed to be doing - apprehending criminal illegals. I for one just don't believe it. Lots of media "reports" over a tiny number of actions.
I'd say there is much more smoke here than fire, as usual. Just another media campaign to try and pacify the population while the illegals continue to flood in by the millions, all the while trying to make you feel guilty for expecting your government to act like an adult instead of an emotional guilt ridden child.

Oh, we’re so mean and cold and racist in this country, aren’t we?! They’d all better go back to their home countries, where things are no doubt much better.

At Global Money Express in Little Havana, money transfers have dropped by a third in the past few weeks. The only tax I would support is a fifty percent tax on foreign money orders.
