I imagine Fred will be grilled about this CNN "story":

Thompson: 'Not particularly interested in running for president'

The Weekend Talk Show Preview is up, such as it is

Circumstances make me think I won't be able to do much, if any, research or posting on the guests this week before the shows air on Sunday.  I'll probably not be able to participate much in the Sunday thread either (what a tragedy!), like the last several weeks.

It's simple to summarize this weeks shows, though: the talking heads are spewing about the Iowa Caucus and the "disaster" for US foreign policy of Bhutto's death.  The Iowa voters will vote how they vote and I hope that the State Department pukes (I explicitly exclude those on FR who have worked there from that epithet) who put all of our "eggs" in the Bhutto basket  are enjoying their quiche, 'cause those eggs are trashed.

Assuming the info I have is correct (and that I can count), the following 5 Dhimmicrats and 3 Republicans get face time this Sunday:

Wait... that's 5 Dhimmicrats, one pro-life liberal non-Democrat, one pro-defense RINO (but legit war hero) and one conservative Republican (by my definitions).  Yep.  That's about par for the course

Predictions for Iowa:

Democrat side: Hillary wins Iowa, Barack close enough for argument, the bleat goes on to New Hampshire

Republican side: Romney wins Iowa, Huckabee does much worse than predicted, Thompson does much better (I think he takes second with the Huckster fading fast)

Thompson does so much better than expected Fox News is accused of sand bagging expectations in order to give him a bounce.  "Proof" of this accusation is that he was the sole presidential contender they interviewed for the last Sunday before the caucus.

I hope everyone whose church has already celebrated the anniversary of Christ's birth for this year had a very Merry Christmas

To those whose church is still looking forward to celebrating that joyous event I wish you a Merry Christmas to come

To all using the western calendar a happy New Year

And I wish peace and joy to all of you

OK, that's my version of (genuine) inclusiveness and "political correctness."  Anybody got a problem with that? <g>

Re: Last week’s Christmas ads:

Huckabee — A+, First and the best; captures the spirit and reason for the season (disclaimer, not a Huckabee supporter).

Obama — B, O.k. but barely; saved by his little girl saying “Merry Christmas” followed by his second saying “Happy Holidays.”

McCain — B, Inspirational and reminds people how faith can transcend events and time. Downside: once again reminds us he was a POW. (He plays that card when useful, but declined to support the Swift Boat men or condemn Kerry in ‘04 for his treasonous actions before Congress and the nation when McCain and others were imprisoned.)

Rudy — B-, Reminds us that his Christmas wishes are his campaign goals; have two ads to chose from, both end with humor (fruit cake and Santa going Ho, Ho, Ho when Rudy says candidates should get along)

Hillary — D, Trying to play Santa, but those “gifts” to us under her tree are actually paid for by us. No free lunch, Hillary. At least her smile didn’t lead to a cackle.

Edwards — F-, Pandering, pandering, pandering.

Thanks, again, for this information.

My sense is FNC does not believe Thompson will be able to win the nomination so they are not covering him. Certainly the coverage of Huckabee only came about because of his rise in the polls. Point being, the media focuses on front runners only.

Regardless, I agree there are always too many Democrats on these shows, even though I understand why. My sense is the NE culture influences the media and they just assume the worst for the GOP and best for Democrats. At least that’s what seems to happen in my view of red state fly-over country.

I just got new glasses, 8-), so maybe things are clearer today.

I also added a sig line that I find appropriate.

It all depends on whether you believe the advertiser or not

Huckabee — F-, a flim flam man wrapping himself in the mantle of our Savior for his own personal benefit.  I don't believe for a second that the "book shelf" cross was an accident and if it was then he is a moron who is totally clueless about the world around him - he's a fraud and is using the name of Jesus Christ to gain personal power and prestige for his own glory

Obama — B, it looked to me like an honest reaction to a totally bogus set up by the huckster.  I don't support Obama, but he doesn't repulse me the way Caligula Huckabee does

McCain — D, as he fell back on yet another story about how he was tortured by the Vietnamese communists 40 years ago.  You know, the folks he now wants all of us to make friends with and forget what types of monsters they are

Rudy — B-, yeah, yeah, gotta have a Christmas commercial.  Blah, blah, blah.  I wil vote for Rudy if it comes down to him and the hildabeast, but this ain't making me happy about him.  Being a New Yorker (raised there) I understand the cynical tone of his ad, but it ain't carrying any weight with me

Hillary — X-, thank you very much for reminding me why I hate you and your Stalinist form of "government," you horrendous monster

Edwards — F-, Pandering, pandering, pandering - you got that one right, and I haven't seen the ad

but you failed to mention Fred

Fred Thompson — A++, the dinosaur media is desperate to ignore what he did, nuff said

Thanks "P" great job as usual!! Here is hoping Fred makes a good appearance tomorrow. I learned something really great a few days ago on the Levin thread.

While Mark was taking some time off he posted us on his show thread here to let us know that the rats were attacking him/his book about his dog "Sprite" on a website. He asked if some of us would write reviews of his book and post them on the site for some balance which I am sure has already happened by now

. A little bell rung in my head.

What is the Dem/rats biggest fear....Compassionate Conservatives-- ring, ring, ring--GW and now Mark Levin--must be driving the rats absolutely bonkers!! So they do what they do best lie, perjure themselves reinvent the truth, twist the truth, things they were brought up doing.

We should all remember that.

Fred had an ad? Not mentioned, even on Fox (I watch in the morning and catch Hannity at night). And, yes, I just viewed it and it is the best. However, as it 1 minute 14 seconds long, it was obviously made for the internet and not for a 30-second spot on Iowa/NH TV. Romney also didn't produce a Christmas ad (the Mormon Ward next door to me had a tree up in the entry way but that was it as far as acknowledging the season).

No matter you opinion of Huckabee (and I believe that his one positive is his social conservatism), the ad was well done and IMO effective so my original grade remains.
