The MIddle East and the Near Middle East (and Muslims in general) need symbols of rationality to rally around and to believe in. The Extremists have a monopoly on passion and martyrism, as anyone who opposes them is usually eliminated before they can gather any kind of following.

Maybe her myth will be strong enough to tilt the balance.
