Things could get real weird, real fast.

The question will be whether John McCain has any kind of surge in Iowa. If McCain and Giuliani do poorly in Iowa and then Ron Paul finishes third in New Hampshire, Rudy Giuliani will be embarrassed, and his campaign will be hurt. Of course, that outcome would also hurt Fred Thompson's campaign. The question is whether people are going to awake to the fact that New Hampshire has very few delegates and Iowa doesn't even select national convention delegates at the January caucus. If people make that connection, they'll quit allowing the results in Iowa and New Hampshire to determine the nominee. We'll have no more ridiculous talk about "three tickets out of Iowa" or "two tickets out of New Hampshire." Instead, people will think carefully, choose slowly, and maybe find the best candidate. Personally, my favorite is Duncan Hunter with Mitt Romney second, but I'd like to see people apply more thought to the process.

Very Interesting.

Looks like the McCain surge may be happening now.
