Yes, an “independent” government like Duncan Hunter stated. This issue should not have been handled by the government. Citizens could have worked it out amongst themselves by allowing establishments to decide for themselves. If an establishment wanted no smoking, all they had to do was to remove the ashtrays. There is no need for a sign with a phone number for reporting your fellow citizen to the state. RIDICULOUS and SHAMEFUL.

Citizens could have worked it out amongst themselves by allowing establishments to decide for themselves. 15-17 years ago businesses began doing just that. Suddenly, when you went into a restaurant you were given a choice of smoking or non-smoking sections. Yin/Yang signs were posted on doors indicating the business provided an environment for all to enjoy. But that was not enough for the nanny's.
Then they mandated separate, walled off areas for smokers with outlandish air filtration systems. Many establishments spent thousands of dollars to comply with the new laws only to be told a few years later that it was not good enough and they must become smoke free.
I miss living in a free country!
