So do I. Even Rush Limbaugh has said that this has got to stop. It seems that some so-called "conservatives" don't understand this, and are willing to allow giving away a bit of freedom for what they want. FREEDOM REQUIRES CONSISTENCY. I ran across a Freeper here in a smoking thread who was some type of official that regulated businesses. That person said they were proud to vote for smoking bans time and time again and would continue to do so. When I told him/her that with every law passed a little bit of freedom was taken away,he/she wanted me to "take it back." This is an official who affects our lives and who didn't want to acknowledge that.
Sometimes I have to check and make sure I am still on FreeRepublic. Watching/listening to people turn themselves inside out to defend something that should never have been an issue is very discouraging.
I am beginning to lean toward banning all tobacco products and get it over with. Make it all illegal, as well as all alcohol and any other activity we may enjoy. Let's take the plunge into full blown fascism and get on with our lives.

It is ironic that people who support an industry that only exists because of government subsidy and protection spend so much time portraying themselves as being opposed to the interference of government.
Tobacco has been in bed with government for the past 40 years. It’s a little late to speak up now and say you don’t care for the company.
