DES MOINES, Iowa -- Mike Huckabee's surge in Iowa showed signs of retreat as three new polls found rival Mitt Romney climbing back. The former Arkansas governor again found himself playing defense Sunday, and he responded by saying Mr. Romney cannot be trusted to tell the American people the truth should he be elected.
Mr. Huckabee, who has been pummeled with Romney attack ads and literature mailed across Iowa, considered responding with an attack ad of his own.

I think the media gleefully pumped up Huckabee because they thought he was a sure loser who could be skewered later, leaving the Republicans hanging out to dry.
Then when he did even better than they expected, they started to get scared. Suppose this religious fanatic actually won! Horrors!
I’d say that’s why Huck is starting to recede. That and his own big mouth.

Just like they pump McCain every election cycle. Were he ever to receive the nomination, the media would savage him mercilessly.
This is the trial by fire that we use to find the candidate best able to organize the battle. Engage or die.

Huck may not be the ideal candidate. But he is sure better than Flip Romney.
It's amazing to me how little controversy was generated by Romney's lie about his dad and MLK. I won't claim that I was leaning towards him, I've been a Fred supporter since March, but I was neutral on Romney until that beauty.
In my book it's no less a lie than Huckabee's claiming he had a theology degree. Resume enhancement I think we call it.
ALL of the attack ads in NH (against McCain) are from ... Romney.
ALL of the dirty tricks, including push polls,
fake troopers and badges have been from ... Romney.
Meanwhile, Romney's BELIEVERS appear to have two states, either swooning
over their candidate OR cowardly hiding Romney's attacks, misstatements,
and dirty tricks behind his RELIGION. Amazing.
It wasn’t a lie and many wittnesses have since come forth to prove this....yet the media won’t admit it.

Whoever wins the nomination better show they can take the heat, because they are going to get it big time from the enemedia in the homestretch.

"I researched this question, and indeed it is untrue that George Romney marched with [Dr.] King."
