The forum seemed tailor-made for Ted Hayes, the Los Angeles activist for the homeless who has become one of the nation's most visible African Americans raising a ruckus about illegal immigration.
A mostly black crowd had gathered at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in South Los Angeles for a feisty debate about illegal immigration's effects on the African American community. When Minister Tony Muhammad of the Nation of Islam and others called for black-brown unity, they drew boos and yells of dissent.
"Illegal immigration is wrong! They have no business being in this country!" shouted one audience member, drawing thunderous applause.

Interesting article.
“Illegal immigration is the greatest threat to blacks since slavery,” Hayes declared at a recent Choose Black America meeting in Inglewood. “Immigrants got our jobs, the hospitals, the schools. Black folks can’t compete.”
Victim mentality.
I have worked with black lawyers and Engineers, we got along very good and became friends. I have worked with illegal aliens and we got along very good, I consider some of them to be very good friends that will come anytime I am in need of help. That being said, I get along with almost everybody, even the derelicts that walk up and down the street all day long, them screaming at the world at 2 in the morning. The derelicts, in their fuzzy state of mind, appreciate my listening to them rant and look out for myself and my family. I have to listen to them, they are so bewildering.
I am a compassionate conservative. I realize that it takes many types of people to make a world. It takes a hands-on hard working person to harvest our crops. It takes a geek to figure out my entertainment system. It takes a German or Swede to do intricate machining with passion. It takes a numbers person to do my taxes. It take Ernie to figure out which gun I can own and when I have to purchase it.
Simply put, I love people with all their idiosyncrasies, BUT, we are a nation of LAWs. I hate the fact that every job that an uneducated, illegal alien Mexican has taken, has taken the jobs of the dropout American. The dropout American has vastly more education than any illegal alien Mexican. The dropout American is an American and deserves those jobs taken by illegal aliens. The dropout American, many are very smart and become models of Americans, will find their way when they find what interests them whether it be in construction or an ITT expert.
I believe that a strong America can help the world.
Black folks (aside from a handful like Ted the Homeless guy) aint going to be marching with cracker conservatives on this issue anytime soon, for various reasons.
The “dropout American” is usually not very bright and not very motivated. Nevertheless, deport the illegals now. The slackers/welfare cases will then either start showing up for work and FINISHING THEIR JOBS or, more likely, LEGAL immigrants will take their place.
You are wrong Clemenza, I consider myself a dropout, therefore I have paid attention to all the non-degreed successes in this country and there are many. We are not illiterate and we are not dumb. We simply dance to a different tune.
In most cases we have way too much energy than to sit in some class learning about History. Give us a Machine shop class, a Laser class, a welding class, a class designing the best robot or dune buggy and we will be happy. We are the people that have open garages working on dirt bikes and sandrails inviting all the neighborhood kids to explore. We are the people that will investigate making a battery powered go-cart.
I do not consider skilled workers/tradesmen to be "dropouts." I think we are using the same term for two different things.
Its not just the socialists who sell us out on illegal immigration (George Bush, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Guliani, Ronald Reagan, the US Chamber of Commerce...)
“In most cases we have way too much energy than to sit in some class learning about History.”
Energy — or lack thereof — has nothing to do with it. Discipline does, though. People lacking in discipline usually tend to be all over the place in terms of what they want to be, and often end up being nothing, and dependent upon those who were disciplined.
The undisciplined are the same folks who floated through life trying to “find themselves.” Many of them have gravitated towards far-left lunacies in their search for some kind of identity and meaning.
Ted is a good guy, but he should have stuck with the homeless issue.
Victim mentality.
How can blacks, or any citizen for that matter, be expected to compete against under-the-table, cash labor that avoids taxes and other government regulations?
I had the sense of “entitlement”, to a much lesser scale than others. Nevertheless, real life has a way of slapping you in the face and waking one up, IF they are paying attention. :-)
What the hell is discipline? We enjoy doing what you call discipline. We are inquisitive.
We have a quest for advancement in technologies, but have no interest in what is required to get a degree. We are inquisitive, we love technology and advancements, most importantly we share our information with our associates. We dont hoard our knowledge, we share. Unlike the foreign-born immigrants you seem to take a liking to.
That’s the most reasoned and sensible analysis I have read on FR for a long time.
Great! Gimme the KFC coating and Big Mac sauce receipes. :)
Sorry moonman, the kids Im talking about, those kids that find an open garage with beer drinking old farts working on dirtbikes, these kids have learned robotics, gearing, precision machining, suspensions, auto body, welding, electronics, computer animation, computer design, computer hacking. They have learned to tear apart and repair transmissions, tweak jet skis and learn to fly. They have learned scuba diving and soccer. They have learned to play baseball and football. They have learned mountain bike riding and dirt bike riding. They have learned to build their own kites and candle lit flying plastic bags. They have learned to create their own rockets.
What many of us need is fun. Plain and simple fun. What we find to be fun is what others believe to be work. We create the fun for people without an imagination. We will give you the mono shock that will keep your gonads intact as you educated people give it to the Japs.
We dont have Big Mac and KFC recipes.
