From the article: Like President Bush, Governor Romney Would Have Signed The Assault Weapons Ban Extension At That Time. As Governor Romney stated on CNN and "Meet the Press," had he been President and had the Assault Weapons Ban extension reached his desk, like President Bush, he would have signed it. That bill did not pass Congress. Governor Romney has stated that he would not reinstate that Assault Weapons Ban. In fact, Governor Romney does not support any new gun laws including a ban on semi-automatic firearms. He would consider limitations on weapons of unusual lethality like grenades, rocket launchers, fully automatic firearms and what are legally known as destructive weapons. (NBC's "Meet The Press," 12/16/07; CNN's "The Situation Room," 11/26/07; The Des Moines Register, 10/23/07)

This guy is making me dizzy. At least he has moved far enough that it is time to explain that "arms" includes more than just "firearms". As fast as he is moving, he will probably be recognizing this around Wednesday morning.

Apparently, though, Romney would sign a law banning machine guns. He doesn't explicitly state it, but one can only presume that he would allow confiscation of those that are in circulation, since he favors further limitations on a weapon that now is illegal to manufacture.

The writer is putting word in willards mouth, he has yet to define what weapons of unusual lethality are. Guess he's still consulting his attorney's on that spin.

Yes, he supports the EXISTING ban. If he had said he didn’t support a ban, someone would have probably called him a liar because he supports the existing ban on machine guns and grenade launchers.

Which, btw, it would be nice if we had a candidate who could effectively argue that we should NOT have a ban on machine guns.

Romney tries to take a few positions that he took, once he knew the next election he would be facing would be the Republican Primaries, and try to convince us that this is the real Mitt Romney. Well governor, the truth is the positions that you were taking when you ran for office twice in Mass, are radically different from those you took once you started running for president (2004 - present).

Were you lying then, or are you lying now.
