Woman who tried to assassinate President Ford is released from Calif. prison after 32 years

SAN FRANCISCO: Sara Jane Moore started the new year Tuesday a free woman more than three decades after a bizarre assassination attempt on President Ford that still baffles even her own attorney.

"I never got a satisfactory answer from her as to why she did it," said retired federal public defender James F. Hewitt.

Prison officials have offered no details on why Moore, 77, was paroled Monday from a federal penitentiary east of San Francisco, where she had been serving a life sentence. Moore had been behind bars for 32 years.

The one-time aspiring film actress was 40 feet away from Ford outside a hotel in San Francisco when she fired a shot at him on Sept. 22, 1975. As she raised her .38-caliber revolver and pulled the trigger, Oliver Sipple, a disabled former Marine standing next to her, pushed up her arm. The bullet flew over Ford's head by several feet.

The attempt came 17 days after a disciple of Charles Manson tried to kill the president in Sacramento.

Wow, I like it.
Keep them in prison until they’re too old and feeble to earn a living or support themselves then release them without a retirement package or a job. I hope the slimebelle has a miserable rest-of-her-life experience.

WOW! Very impressive. I didn’t start playing on a semi-regular basis until about a year and a half ago. I wish I would have started 40 years earlier.

Thank you. Have a lot of good golfers in the family. Got lucky. Just born into it. The one mistake I made in my life was when I was offered a job at Ben Hogan’s golf manufacturing plant; I turned it down. It was because he knew my Dad. My Dad never forgave me. LOL

One good tip is to always play with someone better than you. Your game will be better. I would play with Tiger Woods(who I consider the greatest golfer ever because he can do it all)in a split second. Just think how good my game would be.

You don’t know many 77 years olds do you?

Not really. lol. I guess I was doing quite a bit of sterotyping in my last post.

Okay all things being equal, when is Sirhan Sirhan going to be released?

Reagan's 'crazy' shooter is out, and now this one. So why is Sirhan still locked up. I believe he's spent more time in prison than any murderer in California. Heck he's been denied parole 13 times, what's up with that? Are they prejudiced against Arabs (he's NOT a Muslim)? And it's not like he is a loon like Charlie Manson .

And who the heck was RFK anyway? No one special, just another lying politician spewing BS, not a President like Reagan or Ford. Plus as we now know RFK was a CRIMINAL with his illegal wiretapping. then the Marilyn Monroe suspicious death thing.

So, FREE SIRHAN, FREE SIRHAN!! End Arab discrimination NOW!

:-)

Who’s stupid idea was this?

The federal sentencing laws which were in effect back in the 70s (which still apply to anyone convicted back then) pretty much require that someone serving a life sentence be paroled after 30 years of good behavior in prison.
