“The F-15E would frankly be the best fit.”

I’d actually guess that F-16’s, or perhaps a few F-15s (20/80) mixed with F-16s would be the best option.

F-16s are quite a bit less expensive than F-18s (IIRC, no carrier requirements) and are certainly battle proven. They are going to single engine with F-35...

I spent a little bit of time in Korea, way back in the day. I remember watching them take off in groups of three on a runway.

I asked a USMC pilot why our own didn’t do that, since it put more aircraft in the air and more quickly, and he said “too dangerous”.

Of course, that means nothing in regards to this particular conversation.

I also remember the concern (not quite panic) when J band radar was picked up by USMC elint birds along the NK boarder. J band meant Gun Dish radar which meant ZSU-23x4 which meant scary times for ground attack aircraft.

Just out of ignorance, I’d assume that aircraft and avionics built up to snuff for ROK should be right fine for anyone else in that are of operations. They’ve been standing in preparation against the best the Sov/PRC combine can produce for a full generation. They’ll know what the enemy can make and should have all that in consideration.
