Yep. I don’t expect a perfect candidate, but pretty good.
Even Reagan wasn’t perfect, I’ve noticed how so many have lionized him since after his second term, and especially after he passed.
There’s an quote out there that I can’t remember exactly, that goes something to the effect of ‘if you agree with 80% of what I believe, I’m your man. But if you agree with 100% of what I believe, seek help’.
Duncan would’ve been my first choice, he’s the most conservative from what I can see, but Fred is still very conservative, would make me very satisfied, and I think if Fred chose Duncan as a vice, we could possibly see a Duncan presidency in the future.(I wouldn’t mind a Tancredo vice either, he’s *not* a one trick pony despite what the liberal media wish some to believe)
Go out and buy a few guns.
Happy New Year.
Go Fred!
They sure mixed some apple and oranges to come up with only a “mostly consistent” rating for Thompson. They included Campaign Finance Reform and his vote for David Satcher as Surgeon General as anti-gun votes. That’s a stretch by any measure. I have issues with CFR, but it is clearly not a gun control bill. And anyone Bill Clinton selected as Surgeon General was going to be a liberal kook (Joycelyn Elders, anyone?) and David Satcher was no exception, but choosing the Surgeon General is the President’s prerogative.
On major gun legislation, Fred has proven himself to be ardently pro-Second Amendment. From ontheissues.org:
“NYC doesn’t have same values as America on gun control. (Nov 2007)
Allow colleges to make their own rules about guns on campus. (Nov 2007)
Strongly supports the Second Amendment. (Sep 2007)
Allowing concealed carry could have limited VA Tech massacre. (Apr 2007)
Having handguns in your home is a Constitutional right. (Mar 2007)
Voted NO on background checks at gun shows. (May 1999)
Voted NO on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (May 1999)
Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows. (May 1999)
Voted YES on maintaining current law: guns sold without trigger locks. (Jul 1998)”
The only other Republican running who could possibly be more pro-Second Amendment is Duncan Hunter.
