Hello MichiganWoodsman,

My man Fred’s not a perfect candidate, but your deeming Huckabee either conservative or winnable really makes curious as to how you come to that perspective.

In my book, Huckabee is the greatest gift to the Dems of the ‘plausible’ five, followed by Giuliani, then Mitt, then McCain, then Fred. I’d probably put them in the same order for conservatism as well.

Other than on the right-to-life issue, Huckabee reminds my of your run-of-the-mill liberal, intent on showing his virtue by how much he can impose by government fiat and pay for by the taxpayers’ funds.

I really am curious as to your line of thinking—clearly you’re not the only one thinking that way right now!—if you’d be willing to explain a little more how you come to that conclusion.

Thanks and Happy New Year,

9YearLurker

I appreciate your polite disagreement, there has been little of that lately on FR.

I wish that Thompson or Hunter were better candidates. I agree with them on most issues; I agree with them more than I agree with Huckabee. But, we have the general election to look forward to and, unfortunately, we don't have a superstar conservative like Newt Gingrich or Rush Limbaugh running for President. So, out of the winnable candidates - McCain, Abortiani, or Huckabee - I pick Huckabee.
