It's just a shame folks from outside these districts feel compelled to contact these congressmembers to ask them to be of some assistance to a constituent.

Well, freema, I don't know that constituents from their districts haven't contacted them for assistance. But short of moving to those districts, I'll have to write from outside. :-)

Good piece today by Bruce Kessler at Democracy Project: The Haditha Juries & Truth...

The four of eight Marines charged for crimes at Haditha who will face court martials in 2008 should and will be either exonerated or only found guilty of relatively minor procedural offenses.

The preliminary Article 32 hearings into the facts and circumstances, and the consequent recommendations by the hearing officer, eliminated the most serious charges as inadequately substantiated. What remained was largely reduced by the general who is the convening authority.
