Bad Blood at Huckabee and Paul
Time ^

Posted on 01/01/2008 10:17:34 AM PST by mnehring

The corner of Sixth and Locust is probably the tensest spot in downtown Des Moines. And the frostiness has little to do with the subfreezing Midwestern winter and everything to do with presidential politics. For housed alongside each other on the bottom floor of a 73-year-old office building at 405 Sixth Avenue-and sharing the bathrooms in the basement— are the Iowa headquarters of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Both Republican candidates — one the most socially conservative in the race; the other, a Libertarian — moved in around the same time last summer.

I walk past this corner most days. The Paul people rented the office space right next to the Huckabee office.

They moved their Ron Paul sign just as close as possible to Huckabee’s. The little things sometimes say a lot.
They are childish...

“Paul protesters blocking and harassing Huckabee volunteers.”

I can’t imagine! lol I have met a lot of rude people in my life, but never so many that supported a particular candidate.

Something else. Ron’s supporters tout his ‘pro life’ credentials, but like all things Ron Paul is the inevitable inconsistency.

Paul vote NO on Unborn Vicitms of Violence Act co sponsored by Hunter.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c108:1:./temp/~c108QeuNh1::

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2004/roll031.xml

Not to mention no to criminalizing the transport of a MINOR across state lines by a third party to PURCHASE an abortion WITHOUT parental permission.

Apologies for the CAPS.

Then there’s his his “perfect” 0% rating from the National Abortion Rights League touted by his supporters.

2000 I believe.

Go Ron Go!!!

0%=100% pro life.

Somehow they forget to mention.

2006: 65%

2005: 75%

2004: 65%

Yea, because after one hundred years on the current currency system, we really are a poor, third world country aren't we? The problem is Paul and his supporters are using a short term change to try to prove long term issues, just like the global warming alarmists. They often use one year charts like this:

However, they love to ignore real long term trends. Let's take a look at the overall value of the dollar since 1980:

How about 73 through 03.

Thanks, saw that.

Keep Huck out of his campaign HQ, that's the strategy. Reminiscent of Rudy and the ferry.

These are some really some small time Sturmabteilungers, and trying it in the wrong nation. This garbage will go no where.

Protesters block Huckabee Posted: 06:02 PM ET
Protesters lined Huckabee's Iowa campaign quarters Monday. DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) – Anti-war protestors and Ron Paul supporters both kept Mike Huckabee from entering his Iowa campaign headquarters through the front door Monday. Three people who managed to break inside — holding a sign that said "What Would Jesus Bomb?" — were arrested and led away, yelling and singing. Around two dozen Ron Paul supporters outside chanted 'Legalize the Constitution.'

Ain't that the truth? He draws a lot of very strange, spiteful little personalities.

The Paulvestites are trying to claim this as proof they didn't block Huck:

Of course, they aren't showing the rest of the images like you posted where that group turned the corner and blocked the street.

Good to hear from someone in Iowa.

Here’s a snapshot from Intrade yesterday. There is evidence that Hunter is gaining ground in Iowa.

For the Iowa caucus, Thompson is at the bottom of the pack, Romney has regained the lead from Huckabee. Ron Paul and Hunter are both embedded together, so there’s no way of knowing if he’s gaining ground, but on the basis of the president.field contract moving, I’d say he’s probably at ~0.3 and Ron Paul is at ~4.8, which puts Hunter ahead of Thompson.

Caucus
REP.IOWA.HUCKABEE
Mike Huckabee to Win M 45.0 46.0 45.0 1690 +5.0
REP.IOWA.ROMNEY
Mitt Romney to Win M 40.2 54.9 50.0 1960 0
REP.IOWA.THOMPSON(F)
Fred Thompson to Win M 0.1 1.4 0.1 642 -1.4
REP.IOWA.MCCAIN
John McCain to Win M 0.6 4.4 0.2 860 -2.8
REP.IOWA.GIULIANI
Rudy Giuliani to Win M - 0.1 0.1 701 0

REP.IOWA.FIELD
Field (any other individual) to Win M 4.7 5.9 4.8 1384 +1.0

2008.PRES.FIELD
Field (any other candidate) to win 2008 US Presidential Election M 0.2 0.3 0.2 14910 +0.1

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

Why the smart money is on Duncan Hunter

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

They should, if you don't support Ron Paul you're a traitor or a coward, even Medal of Honor winners

I forgot to add that three Paulvestites were arrested and some even got into Huck's headquarters and did a little show for the press.

Apparently they never have read the Old Testament.

Something else that I've heard but still trying to confirm is that Cindy Sheehan joined a lot of Paul supporters trying to disrupt the Rose Parade.. I'll post and ping when I get more info.

I happen to like Huck and Paul. I’d like either a whole lot more than, say, John Edwards!!! Republican’s should use a little self control—fruit of the Spirit—and not devour each other so early!!

He doesn’t have half the gravitas many try to appoint him. Much of his rhetoric is absurd and much of it he knows full well just isn’t going to happen in the current political climate. He has passed very little legislation in his time as a Congressman and his supporters really believe he is going to get rid of the IRS?

Paul thinks all US troops should return to US soil. I am not sure he really even wants them here or not. He voted against using the military on the border so, does Paul even think we need a military? If so, what would they be used for exactly? He might say that they are here in case we are attacked or invaded. If he doesn’t think there is an invasion from the south then he is not the bulldog on border security he is made out to be. Overlooking that, once any enemy attacks us on our own soil then obviously we have put ourselves at a disadvantage already. Some of his foreign policy is just pure silliness.

Classy stuff.

I did note they picked the wrong nation for this stuff.

Whether anarchists or fascists, no matter, something occured to me.

I know some of his ideological heirs have been critical of Washington's, that nasty founder, handling of the non-violentWhiskey Rebellion.

Has Paul come out with a position on this clear abuse of federal power.

Just why are we occupying Western PA anyway?
