I would say that “Victorian values” originates with Tom Brown rather than Harry Flashman!
Probably nothing, because those echoes are not really in the books themselves (though I have not read the last two).
Just thought of another interesting Fraser book: The Hollywood History of thre World. It surveys Hollywood's historical films on the basis of whether they are "good history" or not.
I would recommend The Pyrates to anyone who has enjoyed the Flashman series.
