Hard to believe when he has been endorsed by many pro-life groups.

Fred has been endorsed by National Right to Life and several state Right to Life Chapters. (Wisconsin, my state, is one of them.)

Does your co-worker believe that he would have received these endorsements w/out being solidly pro-life?

That’s just a complete fabrication.

Fred was endorsed by the National Right To Life Committe and a host of similiar state organizations because he is not only currently committed to life, but has been his entire political career.

Yes, this was from one survey that almost from day one, Thompson has denied filling out (denied long before running for President.) There are many vague groups that send out these surveys to candidates and either the candidate or a staffer completes them usually. A while back someone posted a scanned copy and there is no signature on this to indicate who completed it.

Just remind your coworker that Thompson has a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee (and was endorsed by them) a 0% rating from NARAL, and a 100% pro-life voting record.

There is also a letter I’ll try to find from the National Right to Life Committee directly addressing this. I’ll see if I can find it and post.

You could just go to FRED08.com and look up his stance on issues there.

Email from the National Right to Life Committee (Fred alert!)
National Right to Life Committee | July 8, 2007 | Karen Cross

It appears that there is an attempt to create confusion regarding former Senator Fred Thompson’s pro-life position.

You can go to National Right to Life’s website to see Senator Thompson’s voting record against abortion, euthanasia, and experimentation on unborn babies’ bodies. As you can see, Senator Thompson had an excellent pro-life voting record while in the U.S. Senate.

I am concerned that someone may be misleading you about his record. Regardless, I assure you it was not from National Right to Life. National Right to Life PAC supported Senator Thompson for the U.S. Senate in 1994 and 1996, and considered him to be a very pro-life Senator.

Senator Thompson has since reaffirmed his pro-life position. I am attaching a link to the statement he made to the National Right to Life Convention:

Fred Thompson’s statement to the National Right to Life Convention

Thank you for your interest and concern on this critical issue.

Sincerely,
Karen Cross
Political Director
National Right to Life Committee

Try this link.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/Fred_Thompson_Abortion.htm

Not from FRED’s campaign site (just the first pick from a web search for fred thompson abortion).

A good search engine can also be used to find this info, may I suggest http://www.quintura.com/?

Haven’t heard that one from Fred. Closest that I have heard is that he supports overturning Roe v Wade.

Not sure I’ve heard Fred say absolutely illegal or legal one way or another besides letting States decide.

Should also note that the answers they have are from a 1994 survey and NOT a 2008 survey which by their own website Fred has not (refused to) filled out.

Keep pointing out his 100% pro-life voting record.
That trumps any questionable survey.

This bit has been used a lot but nowhere is there anything to substantiate the claim. His record is 100% pro-life and his statements are 100% pro-life.
Is this one blurb from a minor site that can provide no substantiation of the claim enough to sway your friend? It seems obvious to me that your friend is just engaging in sowing pure FUD(fear/uncertainty/doubt) which doesn’t say anything positive about him or his candidate, unless you are dropping this out here for the same reasons. In that case the same could be applied to you but I’ve looked through your posting history and while you may not be very active in the pro-Fred threads, you don’t seem to be one of the provocateur types....

Tell your “friend” that that link doesn’t say ANYTHING that is reflected below it. It says something else entirely.

Then tell your “friend” you heard he on the internet that he is a registered sex offender, and ask if he can tell you anything to disprove it.

Then tell him to have a steaming cup of STFU.

It’s not true. Fred’s position on abortion is that he would like to see Roe v. Wade overturned by the Supremes. He saw his daughter on the ultrasound 5 years ago, and he says now that previously, his stance on abortion was an intellectual exercise. But seeing his baby in there has made it an issue in his heart and soul now.

Just point out that Fred has a 100% pro-life voting record from his 8 years in the Senate - a record which would include votes about that type of abortion. Obviously, that dude’s claim is nonsense.

See, if this is supposed to push people toward the Huckster, why would you even trust him on ANYTHING since he lies so much about everything? I figure Huckabee means it when he is pro-life. There is no evidence that he is not. HOWEVER, HE LIES ABOUT SO MUCH ELSE, that who really actually knows?

He has lied about nearly everything that’s happened in this campaign. I hate to say this, but if a woman came forward and said she had had an affair with Huckabee and then had an abortion, I’d have to say to myself, well, he IS a pathological liar... It’s like Clinton. Can you really believe a thing either Clinton ever says?

Here is an older article here with Thompson's comments about it:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1848689/posts

But Thompson has always been plagued by a 1994 candidate questionnaire that had him saying he favors numerous limits on abortion but supported the landmark Supreme Court case making it legal.
Thompson told Fox News recently he suspected the survey was completed by a staff member at the time and didn't recall filling it out -- and a current staff member of his potential presidential campaign confirmed that.
Thompson spokesman Mark Corallo told the Jackson Sun newspaper that a 1994 questionnaire for Project Vote Smart showing a box checked saying he supported legal abortion was erroneously completed by someone else at the time.

It doesn’t matter. It’s what he will do as President that’s important. He’s been very clear that he supports Federalism.

Tell your liberal questioners:

There is no question. Fred’s voting record is 100% prolife.
