The brigade is fully equipped and trained to battle the enemies of Iraq because of Unit Set Fielding, a process that takes an entire Army brigade and gives the Soldiers the equipment and training they will need to fight.
Iraqi Minister of Defense, Abd al-Qadir al-Mufriji, attended the event and delivered a compelling speech to the graduates of the brigade.
“The people of Iraq have taken money from their pockets to make sure the Iraqi Army has the weapons needed to fight,” said al-Mufriji. “You should be grateful and protect them.”
After the ceremony, al-Mufriji toured the Besmaya Range Complex, viewing the ranges, new medical facility and the lot of equipment supplied to each brigade participating in Unit Set Fielding.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU — Since Dec. 24, the Concerned Local Citizens group in the Arab Jabour area has played a significant role in diminishing al-Qaida in Iraq’s ability to attack Coalition Soldiers, Iraqi Security Forces and local residents.
Maybe we could buy them a flag pole for graduation. Just sayin’.

Excellent news.
Next up in order is:
- 3-14 Bde for Basrah
- 4-5 Bde for Diyala
- 4-9 BSB for north Baghdad
- 4-7 Bde for Anbar/Rutbah (The hugh area not in green on the last map of IA in-lead.)
- 4-3 Bde for Ninawa
- 4-14 Bde for Basrah
There are more but, this is the sched for the first six months of 2008. Approx one new IA Brigade per month.
Note: The INP is also forming the “Abu Risa” Brigade for Anbar during this period...
Will be interesting to watch the time line meet schedule or even speed up a little; which could well happen.
If it happens, I will be writing about it at LWJ.
They are up to a bootcamp thruput of 104,000/year now and I am still seeing increases in the training system.
E.G. This Brigade Set Fielding program at Besmaya Combat Training Center is only two months old.
