This is a continuation of the Republican Establishment's ongoing and disgraceful effort to pretend that Alan Keyes doesn't exist, for whatever reason. They even counted Tancredo's votes, even though he had already withdrawn. But they couldn't count Keyes's votes. Apparently, he makes the GOP Establishment nervous.

The liberal Democrats and the liberal media clearly view Dr. Keyes as "uppity" (maybe he's too bright for them) and they want to spread the notion that there is only one black candidate, so they're systematically ignoring Keyes too.

I don’t support Alan Keyes, but his votes deserve to be counted.

I like Alan Keyes very much, though not for President and he has a talent for saying incredibly impolitic things.

Ok, he got 65. Now everyone can go rest and sleep. Incidentally, Mickey Mouse got 82.

Yeah, that’s sarcastic, but please, who the flip cares? Alan should go back to his excellent scholarly roots and leave these stupid stunts alone.

Keyes is not afraid to state his support for a strict interpretation of the Constitution. That makes him enemies in the ranks of the Republican elitists.

Keyes would make a great President, but he has no chance in heck of getting nominated - especially after his poor showing in Illinois.

So Keyes is gonna pitch a fit and bring the appearance of impropriety on his own party because the didn’t count the 5 votes for him?

What a jerk

Are you sure? It sounds like Keyes was a write-in...it’s been a while since I’ve been actively involved in politics, but even today, isn’t it labor intensive to count write-ins?
I’m assuming Tancredo was still on the ballot even though he withdrew.

OTOH, if Keyes actually was on the ballot then yes they have no excuse.

Oh, c'mon. Keyes makes bucks regularly now by being a political nutcase with a gift of gab. Every four years he gets to tour the country and stay in nice hotels.

If he gets dissed by Republicans and Democrats alike, what does he expect? Nobody promises him a rose garden everytime he throw's his dunce's cap into a ring. His whining is getting redundant every election, but actually it's a calculated part of his act to stay in the public eye.

The guy has a good gig going for himself. He'll always make a buck and get paid for speeches as long as there's folks still clinging to the idea that he's the great black hope.

It's all so chic to be for Keyes every four years......and so intellectually comical.

They are true to tradition.

Several presidential primary campaigns before, in Iowa in 1996 I believe, on the GOP side, they apparantly tinkered with some things and fooled around (and got caught).

The IOWA GOP officials refused too candidates' representatives, for Buchanan and Dornan (also anti-establishmentarian like Keyes this time) access to a tabulation room, but allowed access to reps from Dole and some other RINO centrist nitwit. This is the nature of the business with the GOP in many parts of the nation.

When they are threatened, they start up all kinds of things from the big bag of tricks.
