If that’s how they treat animals for amusement, imagine how they treat serious human enemies.
If they run out of goats and sheep, they’ll use Christians and dissidents.
Look on the bright side....at least they weren’t throwing dissidents to the lions.
Live food is certainly fresh, but these practices are unnecessarily barbaric... unless the purpose is to remind everyone to stay in line.

I must be chineese, I use live minnows for bait to catch larger fish and then for entertainment I post pictures of the larger fish I caught, and then, I kill those fish and feed them to my friends! Oh, and I took my kids along when they were young too. Showed em how to hook the minnow just under the dorsal so they would live longer on the hook also. Oh, and the worms, don’t forget about the worms and grasshoppers too!

“It’s monstrous that people hurl coins at the tortoises, but strapping their heads down with elastic bands so they can’t hide is even more disgusting.
“Because tortoises can’t scream, people assume they don’t suffer. But they do. I can’t bear to think what it must be like to live in a tiny cell and have people hurl coins at you all day long.”

Thanks for posting the pics. I have never seen dozens of lions in one place before. I should have gone to this zoo the last time I was in Peking just for that. I’ll have to go there the next time I visit - probably decades from now.
Some cultures should have died hundreds of years ago. This is one.
