May be they saw yesterday's debate. Rs were more knowledged than Ds. Gibson clearly called dems bluff.

Anyone who watched both debates should have noticed a stark contrast between the two.

Generally, the Pubbies had more depth of knowledge and were able to talk without sounding scripted.

The noteable exceptions were Huckabee and McCain. Both tried one-liners as deflectors. McCain tried to criticize Romney by making a one-liner about Romney and change. McCain chuckled louder than anyone in the audience. It fell flat. Huckabee tried one-liners and then fumbled around to fill up air time. His responses seemed disconnected and incoherent, rather than being straightforward responses. Huckabee also tried a few one-liner criticisms that fell flat and made him appear petty and shallow.

The Dem discussion opened and immediately revealed that the participants knew their talking points, but had little capability of actually discussing those points. Edwards seemed the most capable of expressing himself beyond talking points. Obama improved some as the evening progressed. Clinton began her very first response with a slow, dragged out, pondering, response that was peppered with uhs after nearly every word. She had a difficult time getting beyond the talking points content into any real substance. The only topic she seemed to be able to articulate with easy was health care.

The Dems showed that they lacked substance. They could talk around issues and exchange barbs, but their responses lacked substance and revealed their shallow understanding of world events.

It is doubtful that many Pubbies watched the Dem portions, or vice versa. After all, the NFL playoffs were on. But, if any Independents watched both, they should have noticed the stark contrast: the Pubbies had a much greater depth of knowledge than the Dems and they were better able to explain them without appearing to be trying to remember the order of the talking point (a.k.a., sounding scripted).

I have to admit, I fell asleep towards the start of the Democrat debate.

I changed over to the NFL playoff game (and I really didn't even like either team) at the Dem break. The Dems were dull and made my ears hurt.

Very True. Looks like Huckabee and McCain are teaming up.

Does the NY Times article say the debate is canceled, or does the debate go on without the NH GOP sponsorship? I wasn’t sure after reading the story.

You were smarter than me. I should have done that instead of going to sleep so early.

Watching FNC’s comments on Miss Hillary this morning has been interesting. She really does have a problem with both the truth and how to respond. I especially liked your comment on being “scripted.” That’s the same reaction I had.

Ah yes... the “last minute blitz.” Good morning everyone and if my posting is spotty today, it’s because I’m connecting through another computer and they’ve been restarting that thing every #@%*& 10 minutes and I haven’t been able to get a connection to the Internet.

I’m honestly not sure what to say about this week’s lineup— we have this week, on the four major shows, the winner of Iowa, the winner of Wyoming, and the probable winner of New Hampshire in Huckabee, Romney and McCain.

I notice nobody wants to mention Duncan Hunter’s third-place showing in Wyoming yesterday or the fact that he’s been working the state of New Hampshire all weekend while the GOP has been debating. Maybe if they’d cover him like they did the rest of the candidates he’d be at a little higher than 1%.

Edwards’s appearance on This Week is the only Democrat appearance this week, other than Late Edition’s giving of time to Bill Richardson, who’s in distant fourth behind the Clintobamedwards Cluster and ahead only of Kucinich, barely. Also on LE is Ron Paul (who did surprisingly well in Iowa and could get a boost in NH from the libertarians and other associated breakfast cereal types— fruits, nuts and flakes) and Fred Thompson.

Why more Republicans than GOP members? Quite simply, Obama appeared the past couple of weeks and Clinton won’t go anywhere near them after “the cackle,” Dodd and Biden are out of the race.

Ratings coming up... maybe...

Hi Anita, great to be back! I heard more hours of talk radio traveling last week than I care to disclose.

One day Rush had a huge dilemma of whether or not to disclose his favorite candidate(which I think is Fred)and risk alienating others should they wind up being the nominee.(I think he is pissed that Fred is not more energetic/charismatic especially since he knows show business as well as he does, just my opinion) He chose not to after being challenged several times, once quite eloquently.

I think we all ignore one BS factor that can make a huge difference in the race--the enthusiasm/emotional factor.

If the dems rally their idiot (don't know nuttin' all the time) base with a rock concert style enthusiasm as they did in Iowa the race could be a lot closer than we think.

Fortunately we should beat either of their obvious candidates, hillary or oblama. Neither one is Presidential and neither has any experience compared to our guys.

Anyone with even half a brain will see that and it should be a rather obvious race. The only chance the rats have is what they rely on the most; the emotional vote.

Each of them talked about how tough they would be towards terrorists

I thought maybe I mis-heard due to earwax build up when Richardson said, regarding nuclear terrorists, that he would use diplomacy and treaties with Russia.

I was like, "What???!!!??? Treaties to stop terrorists????"

I saw in several places that the debate is cancelled, but until this morning Carl Cameron was mentioning the debate, so I am confused too. Only thing - how dumb for the NH GOP giving the reason for Ron Paul’s exclusion for cancelling.

Your assignment: Watch Jay Leno's Jaywalking for 3 weeks. They vote. They may not know which state Canada is in, but many of them vote.

He lives in fantasy land, as to the others. It simply amazes me how they can make claims with virtually zero logic.

I’m amazed there are so many Republicans on the shows this morning.

That was my first observation too, and it struck me - the DBM wants to rip them to shreds now.

The debate will go on tonight at 7pm, the NH Republican Committee will no longer co-sponsor the debate, but it will proceed as planned.
