ISLAMABAD, Pakistan Pakistan reiterated Sunday that it will not let American forces hunt Al Qaeda and Taliban militants on its soil, after a news report said Washington was considering expanding U.S. military and intelligence operations into Pakistan's tribal regions.
The Foreign Ministry dismissed as "speculative" a story in the New York Times on Sunday saying U.S. President Bush's top security officials discussed a proposal Friday to deploy American troops to pursue militants along the Pakistan-Afghan border.
"We are very clear. Nobody is going to be allowed to do anything here," said Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad, the army's top spokesman.
"The government has said it so many times," Arshad said. "No foreign forces will be allowed to operate inside Pakistan."
In Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai's spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Well, THAT Musharaf thing worked out well.
Fine. End all foreign aid to these sand apes.
Obviously.
But when exactly did we ask someone’s permission if we could hunt down the bastards with covert ops?
On the previous thread this was determined to be totally bogus. Nobody believes Pakistanis, they don’t even believe themselves.
Get them out of this country and out of our schools because all they’re doing is planning their terror from within.
That’s why they’re covert.
I’m sure 160th SOAR could drop a whole bunch of Special Ops teams, Green Berets, SEALs, the works. Except cut the service rivalry. Force them to work together if they have to.
Is this any surprise? To anybody?
Whether the U.S. is considering the option, already has the option or is, at this very moment, employing the option, this would be the response of the Pakistani government.
Regardless of what the New York Times might say.
In other words, this is a "news story"...about nothing.
Damn right. Tell those rag heads that the free lunch is over and round up all their cockroach operatives in this country and send them home. That crap can work both ways. We could make good use of the money we waste give them aid.
As President, I would say” you have 90 days to Kill Bin Laden . After that we will be camping in your country until we kill the sob. If you mess with us you will suffer the sting of thousands of helicopter gun ships and we will dominate the air with our bomber and fighter jets. You will be killed by the thousand so stay the hell away until we are finished. Tell the tribal cheifs to drop their little air guns or die real bad— you might want to go get his pathetic head and bring it here and it will be easier on you”
Bet Hillary wouldn’t do that.
general observations -
1) No way on this planet Pak. gives PUBLIC permission for this. Of course they deny permission/deny they will give permission when the story breaks, duh. It would be tremendously stupid to give public permission.
2) What happens in the sticks is another matter, though in fact the denial may be real. Apparently it is being discussed. I (and almost all other freepers) presumably don’t know what is actually being worked out or not, successfully or not. I certainly don’t expect a pakistani press release detailing the areas (if any) where US forces will be allowed to operate in any capacity.
3) Do freepers as a rule understand #1? This thread doesn’t imply so.
ah you beat me to the first common-sense post on this thread!
How do you know that hasn't already happened? And Mushi hasn't agreed?
I can recall at least two strikes (reported) that took place "just over the border". Remember the Predator who took out half a village that may have been hosting Zawahiri?
Stuff like that isn't going to get promoted. By either the U.S. or Pakistan. Unless there is a very good reason...
Agreed!
Keep believing that but after 6 years most people would suspect Ole Binny would be dead by now if there was any activity in Pakistan.
