If this strategy doesn’t work, Fred will probably drop out.

Let us say that you have a billion dollar company that is in financial trouble. Are you going to hire Fred or Romney?

HMMM... Romney is a handsome certified financial genius with no hint of scandal. Now Fred, he goes his own way and does not take good advice. Proven fact from this campaign.

The more “real” Thompson is, the less likely he is to appeal to the general electorate and win the White House. That is the reason that he can’t fill a room in New Hampshire, much less chanllenge any front-runner.

“Let us say that you have a billion dollar company that is in financial trouble. Are you going to hire Fred or Romney?”

If you have a room full of tough reporters with a liberal viewpoint in a town full of liberals who are you going to trust to stick to their liberal convictions and who is going to fold up and comprimise? Romney or Thompson?

Last night was the first time my wife had time to pay attention to the Republican contenders. I had told her a while ago that Fred was the man.

After watching the debate, she had two comments.

“He’s the only one up there that’s right.”
“He doesn’t stand a chance, does he...”

She’s right on the first comment. Hopefully wrong on the second.

"What’s your goal here? Do you have one?"

I think his feelings have been hurt and he is seeking validation. It hurts him that we don't all support his guy in this campaign. He wants an apology.

Your predicate is flawed. Romney is not a liberal, he may not be your favorite conservative, but no liberal reporter is ever going to confuse him with a liberal.

Thank you for answering my question by attempting to change the subject.

Nope, you should learn to read more carefully, because you entirely missed the point. I didn’t say he was a liberal, I said he was more likely to compromise when confronted by a hostile liberal media in a liberal town like Washington DC.

Why would I suggest that? Maybe because it already happened when he was in Mass.

Thanks again for agreeing to my point by attempting to change the subject - the subject is winning. Mitt has fought liberalism in the toughest environment - Mass.

When the liberal media called Mitt out on gay adoption, Mitt caved and threw the Catholic Church under the bus.

Mitt's wussy approach saw the greatest strides of liberalism in the last 30 years occur on his watch. We can't afford to take that kind of loser national.

Why should Fred’s campaign tell the media ANYTHING about their funding? Do you see other candidates being grilled on it? Apart from what’s on public record, the media doesn’t need to know anything.

I guess it depends on who you think can get the right people to actually DO the work to set the company straight, and who has the right personal philosophy for getting the job done. I think Fred is that person.

My goal was to point out that over the past week, several freepers whose only sin was to point out what seemed to be a pretty well-reported claim that the Thompson campaign was short of cash were not simply told they were wrong, but were personally insulted, called liars and shills, and subjected to namecalling and other assaults on their character.

Probably because they were sick and tired of all the carp that's been thrown around about Fred. It may have been a well-REPORTED claim, but it was a LIE nonetheless. The campaign that started the rumor knew how hard it is to disprove a lie, and they counted on the media sucking it up and spitting it out unchallenged. It's a dirty trick, and the campaign that got it started SHOULD have been called on it. And those here who oppose Fred accepted it unquestioningly, even after the denials from Fred's campaign.

I'm continually mystified as to why anyone on FR would take anything the MSM says about ANY of the candidates at face value.

The story also provides a factual hook to bolster their reporting — namely that the campaign “went dark”. Now, is that true or not? It’s not easy for us to check, but pretty easy for a reporter. I don’t know it’s true, but this isn’t a “politico” article.

How do we know this reporter didn't use 'politico' as one of her 'sources'? Most MSM articles seem to be rehashing rumors these days, and giving short shrift to any denials from the campaigns, and it's not just Fred who has been on the receiving end of this journalistic malpractice.

but no liberal reporter is ever going to confuse him with a liberal.

Maybe not, but they'll hammer him all the more for it. Is Romney strong enough in his conservative convictions to hold on to them under that kind of pressure? He certainly didn't when he was running for the Senate against Teddy the Swimmer, or when he was running for Governor in MA. Sure, he was a fiscal conservative, but his social conservatism was missing in action. He was trying to appease the libs in MA in order to get elected. I'd be concerned he'd do the same thing when it came to dealing with the liberals in DC.
