KARACHI: Programs to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of Hazrat Syedna Usman Ghani (RA) were held all over the city on Thursday. The Sunni Tehreek and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) organized big conferences.

ST Chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri while speaking at the party headquarters (Markaz-e-Ahle Sunnat) said, “Hazrat Usman (RA) openly spent his fortune in the worship of Allah, which will remain a beacon for Muslims till the Day of Judgment. It is a tragedy that today’s Muslims are giving a bad name to Islam, and giving our enemies an opportunity to deface us and call us terrorists.”

He said that Muslims are being persecuted all over the world, in Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Bosnia, occupied Kashmir and other areas with a Muslim population. “It is a conspiracy,” said Qadri, “that the enemies of Islam have also targeted our country. Pakistan is in the clutches of terrorism, and Muslims are fighting other Muslims.”

Qadri believes that by making Muslims fight amongst themselves, the West is weakening their strength.

However, Qadri said that it was not too late and appealed to the political and religious parties to work together. “By bringing the whole nation together we can bring an end to the conspiracy of the West.”

The ST Central Leader Shahid Ghauri, and Shakeel Qadri also spoke at the conference.

The JUP Sindh’s Deputy General Secretary Allama Qadri Ahmed Noorani, while addressing a seminar held by his party at Liaqatabad, said “Hazrat Usman (RA)’s period of rule was a prime period for Islam. The Islamic army won a record number of victories and the Muslim empire expanded its boundaries.”

He also said that during this period, there was an ideal system of justice.

“Hazrat Usman (RA) accepted his martyrdom and he neither imposed an emergency nor took the basic rights away from his people,” said Noorani. “Today’s Muslim leaders are a picture of shame and their double standards are hurting their own brothers.”

Allama Ghulam Murtaza Sabri, Maulana Muhammad Shauqat Mughal and Qari Muhammad Ibrahim Warsi also addressed the conference.

Well, I didn’t think anyone over there truly noticed.
