Huckabee cannot beat the Dems.

For one, Rush cannot promote conservatism (which he does) and support a social liberal like Rudy Giuliani.

That leaves Huckabee, Thompson and Mitt Romney. I personally like Fred Thompson the best of them all. Fred Thompson needs to get it in gear though, or it will end up being Mitt or Huckabee.

Mitt Romney is being ripped as a flip-flopper and one who changes his views on a dime by the Republican candidates. You don’t think this will hurt him in the general election?

Huckabee will bring in socially conservative DEms. Independents and Republicans to vote for him. Fiscal conservatives will vote for Huckabee rather than let Hillary or Obama win. Those that want to remain on the offensive in the WOT, and want to stop illegal immigration will know that Huckabee is better on those issues than Hillary or Obama.

In some ways, pickings are slim this election cycle. We may end up having to take what we can get — for now.

>>What if all we have left is one (Huckabee) who is socially conservative and fiscally moderate compared to Hillary and Obama? He is charismatic and young and can match Obama on this. He isn’t even half as bad on illegal immigration as Obama or Hillary.<<

How about Duncan Hunter? He’s a true conservative and a true Republican. He’s not a fake, a phony, or a fraud. Like the Huckster is...

"Conservatives beat liberals only when we challenge their outdated positions, not embrace them. This is not a time for philosophical flexibility, it is a time to stand up for what we believe in. Together we can carry the conservative banner all the way to the Whitehouse." -Fred Thompson- Says it all for me.....

After looking at the candidates in the debate, Thompson is by far looking like the least flawed.

That's where I am at this point too.

Exactly. Doesn’t matter, he’s already fading politically.

Any one with half a brain can figure out every thing that Rush has said for him/her self. Rush doesn't spoon feed us on what we should think and it's insulting to suggest that. This is the point of the primaries...better to have warts exposed now than later.

Huckabee acts as if Christianity = socialism. He is a socialist in the name of Christian.

"Republican Jimmy Carter."

I believe that I was the first to refer to Huckabee in public, right here on FR.

If I wasn't the "first," I was certainly the first non-talk show host or other "public figure."

WE must remember that Traditionalists, Christians, Evangelicals and pro-lifers make up the backbone of the Republican Party. Without them, we lose in November.

Right. I am a Traditionalist, Christian, Evangelical, Pro-life Conservative.
Huckabee is Traditionalist, Christian, Evangelical, and Pro-life -- but he is not a Conservative. Despite his good intentions, Huckabee is a nanny-stater who sees government as the solution to every problem. If elected, he will destroy the Conservative movement just as surely as he destroyed the Arkansas Republican Party. During his two terms as governor, Huckabee turned Arkansas from solid red to the only blue state in the South. No thank you!

Honey you might as well vote for a democrat if you vote Huckabee. He is just as liberal and lies even more. I will probably for the first time since 1972 vote dem for president, as they will surely make it only 4 years, and

_____it would be hard to get rid of huck at the 4 year mark.___________________________________________
(I don’t think he will be obama).

Got that right. I think Obama or even Hillary would beat Huckabee.

Does this nation want a man - Obama - who is a member of a church that has been described as a black seperatist church?

That will more than cancel out any baseless charge of getting a First Pastor.

Would you rather have supper nannies like Hillary or Obama if we end up having to go with Huckabee if the flip-flop charge sticks on Mitt and Fred doesn’t get it together?

So, for now, some should ease up a little on Huckabee.

And what if Thompson continues to be cast as boring and barely awake during speeches and debates by arch conservatives like Fred Barnes and others?

Since when has Fred Barnes been an arch conservative?

Oh my. Sorry, Rush is never wrong. At least I almost always agree when I hear him. You need to understand this:

HUCK IS A LIBERAL, HE IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE.
HE IS ALSO THE MOST LIBERAL RUNNING IN EITHER PARTY.

“Fred Thompson — I Like him, but will he even come close to winning N.H, Michigan, South Carolina or Florida? Not likely. Maybe S.C. And what if Thompson continues to be cast as boring and barely awake during speeches and debates by arch conservatives like Fred Barnes and others?”

Barnes may be a registered Republican but certainly not a Conserative.

If Fred doesn’t wake up, I’ll have no choice but to vote for Huckabee... or maybe McCain while holding my nose.

Giuliani or Romney? Never.

I’d like to hear someone ask the Republican candidates if they would put American sovereignty over global warming hysteria-related agreements or treaties.

I have a feeling only 1-2 candidates are going to answer the way I want them to.
