28-year-old Mexican woman stranded in the Mule Mountains near Bisbee with a broken leg was rescued this weekend by Border Patrol agents.

The rescue began at 10:30 a.m. Saturday when agents apprehended a Mexican illegal entrant on Arizona 80 at milemarker 346, a few miles east of Bisbee, said Mike Scioli, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman. The man told agents that he and his group had walked past a woman who was injured in the mountains.

Based on the man’s information, the Border Patrol launched a search to find the woman. A helicopter flew in and agents on the ground had support from an ATV and horse patrol units, Scioli said. Within an hour, agents in the helicopter spotted the woman in the mountains. Due to the rugged terrain, however, the helicopter couldn't land.

Agents walked up to her location and found the Mexican woman alone with a broken leg, Scioli said. They put her leg in a splint and carried her out to Arizona 80 where an ambulance was waiting. She was treated at a hospital in Bisbee and then granted a voluntary return to Mexico. The woman said the other members of her group had left her behind after she was unable to keep up, Scioli said. Another group came by and told her they would get her help. The man who agents arrested and triggered the search was part of that group. She had been out in the cold and windy conditions for four hours, Scioli said.

ATVs, helicopters, mounted officers, searchers, officers, medical treatment and ultimately a ride back to the border. But still we keep hearing that these invaders make only positive contributions to the U.S.A. Did she pay full rack rate for the services? /s

I wonder if she paid someone to help her get over the border...who then abandoned her when she was injured.

Anyone remember the story about the woman getting killed in a jeep roll over. The illegals do not travel alone in this area.

The biggest lesson we should take from this is that these illegals are rampant and obviously of selfish or criminal personality. TWO GROUPS in a four hour period ... I'm supposin' that the third -fourth - and fifth "groups" were obliged to hide in the rocks 'til the rescue was done.

Question of the day?
How big is a "group"?

Thank goodness there are so many people walking north out of Mexico into Arizona along these trails.

Who knows how long she may have been stranded in the desert waiting for help otherwise...

How big is a "group"?

Anywhere from 4 to 30 people at a time.

This type of thing happens all the time- human life has little or no value to these people. Near where I live an illegal woman with a tiny baby were abandoned in a cold rainstorm because they were slowing down the other illegals. The coyote left the woman & baby 50 miles from a town with any services- and lied to her and told her it was only about 15 miles to Phoenix, AZ- it is actually about 300 miles to Phx. from here. Lucky for her and her baby, they were rescued.

Last week I came upon a bad wreck- man had rolled a minivan and totaled it- I saw a man & woman, the man’s arm was bleeding badly & the woman was still in the van holding her head in her hands. The man refused my help, said everything was “bueno.” I was suspicious and drove up the road a little ways and told a border patrol- come to find out there was a load of illegals in the wreck that fled to the bushes after the wreck. The woman had serious neck injuries and one of the illegals and the driver needed medical attention also. This scum was refusing my help because he was afraid of being busted for being a coyote- he had no concern about anyone’s injuries.
