A Purple Heart In War Of Ideas?
Washington Times ^ | January 8, 2008 | Frank J. Gaffney Jr.

Posted on 01/08/2008 7:06:12 AM PST by PurpleMan

According to reporting by Bill Gertz, The Washington Times' intrepid national security correspondent, Stephen Coughlin, a major in the U.S. Army Reserves who has served as a civilian lawyer to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, fell "afoul of a key aide to [Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon] England, Hasham Islam."

If allowed to stand, the effect of Maj. Coughlin's dismissal would be a surgical strike on a man who is arguably one of the most knowledgeable opponents of Shariah — not only in the Defense Department, but inside the entire U.S. government.

I cannot believe that this is not getting more play on the New Media (including the IngrLimbHaniReilly shows)

They are so wrapped up with cultural stories of Hillary crying and McCain sneering that they are missing important stuff.

For shame.

Thanks for posting this.

I have always thought that President Bush was a closet supporter for Islam.

You can not always judge a book by it’s cover but President Bush is way to close to the Saudis.

No doubt Islamic fundementalists have infiltrated American Government. In a sense, I think they have been courted by government agencies to fulfill equal employment laws. Allowing those Muslims to not only gain employment, but climb the ladder, gaining access to confidential information is dangerous.

During WW2, employment of anyone with a German name was very heavily scrutinized as a national security perogative.

Now we are in WW3. The enemy has been identified. We cannot ignore the potential affiliation of an Islamic political hack in the State Dept or Defense Dept passing on classified information to Al Queda. Nor can we afford to have them directing intelligence operations.

This is an example of someone getting too much control, with an obvious bias to the enemy.
This is a SERIOUS DEVELOPMENT!

I agree. The Hillary crying coverage should have lasted two minutes. Such coverage displays the intellectual rigor of our media in all its pathetic glory. No sense of perspective, no analytical skills. Meanwhile, ISLAMISTS TAKE OVER THE PENTAGON, but no one notices. For shame indeed.

Here is a link to a DoD puff piece (propaganda?) about Hesham Islam, the guy who got the analyst fired.

Why did a president who repeatedly talked about the ideology animating our enemies in this “War on Terror” do so little to wage an effective “War of Ideas” against it?

1. Because Bandar Bush is his brother?

2. Because the Saudis have something on him?

3. Because he was seriously concerned that Muslims in America would be lynched by outraged Americans after 9/11 and bought into the ROP BS to avoid being forced by public opinion into doing unto the Muslims what FDR did to the Nisei?

4. Because he knew all along he was going to need help from Muslim leaders and soldiers to fight the war?

5. All of the above?

It has been extremely frustrating watching this Administration fail miserably at Strategic Communications, Public Diplomacy, and counterpropaganda. He's not stupid, so these failures are not accidents. Somebody has a plan. I just don't know what it is.

“...this Administration fail miserably at Strategic Communications, Public Diplomacy.”

Karen Hughes: The clueless political appointee who failed in “leading” that effort.

Now it’s de facto leadership is by the likes of Hesham Islam.

No doubt

The termination of Stephen Coughlin on the Joint Staff is an act of intellectual cowardice.

a dangerous trend........

And we wonder where people lose confidence in the intelligence community re... WMD in Iraq, Iran Nuke program, finding bin Laden.

We are being set up for failure by Islamic cells using intellectual property as a deception.

This process of pro-Islamic political correctness started with the resignation of SecDef Donald Rumsfeld, and became apparent when new SecDef Robert Gates effectively fired CJCS General Pace in favor of the more compliant Admiral Mullins. Yet again, George W. Bush declined to fight for his own appointee, and the permanent Washington establishment won by default. The new Chairman will run a kinder, gentler, politcally correct Pentagon which will soon resemble Foggy Bottom with uniforms. Lions are out; compliant lambs are back in.

I have always thought that President Bush was a closet supporter for Islam.

No. He's just naive. He wants to see the best in people as part of his faith. that led him to believe he could work with people like Kennedy, Putin, Fox, and others. It led him to think he could take these people at their word.

while he is capable of recognizing evil on the larger, theoretical scale of the war on terror, he cant see it in individuals.
