Six years after new rules made it much easier to get a license to carry concealed weapons, the number of Michiganders legally packing heat has increased more than six-fold.
But dire predictions about increased violence and bloodshed have largely gone unfulfilled, according to law enforcement officials and, to the extent they can be measured, crime statistics.
The incidence of violent crime in Michigan in the six years since the law went into effect has been, on average, below the rate of the previous six years. The overall incidence of death from firearms, including suicide and accidents, also has declined.
Michigan mirrors the experience of pretty much every state thats liberalized its concealed carry laws: Hyberbolic predictions of the streets running red with blood before, reductions in violent crime after. With each new state that goes through this process, the former become more difficult to sustain and the latter harder to ignore (though some, of course, still do).

I once knew a moose who was bitten by some guy's sister.
A no-surprise BTT. OTOH, things really might be trending back toward the Old West. The real one, not the one in the fevered imaginations of the anti-gun zealots.
I wish people would stop trivializing carrying a concealed weapon. It is a very serious exercise of rights and privilege. But I have come to expect that liberals cannot stop making fun of the most serious of life’s activities. Indeed, the very worries they expressed while this law was being debated can only be described as “projection” by people who cannot trust themselves to do the right thing when lives are at stake.

Switzerland as a country has been settled for how many years? 8-9 hundred years?
The US for 120 years?
Apples and Oranges.
Not that simple here in Maryland!

I see that Michigan is like Minnesota. You can get a permit to carry a pistol.
No revolvers.....
;-)
I’d buy one for Mrs Suhks if they weren’t outlawed in DC.
Not if you have phone in one hand, and firearm in the other!
