Wow, they got closer to these 3 USN vessels than the Viet boats did to the USS Maddox in 1964. Within easy reach of the M2’s on desk. Maybe even too close for the 5” guns to depress -10 degrees?
The Iranian boats got nothin’ though. They don’t have torps or mines on board. This was a “gut check” for their navy commandos, I bet. Didn’t we read something about their Revolutionary Guard taking over their Navy a while back?
