There's a variation on that based on "doodoo" sort of "You can't doodoo a doer" or something like that.

My buddy's kid just had a DUI crash. Lost control, was going too fast, took out big 300 lb chunks of curb and hit a tree, which folded the top back down on the driver's position.

Thank God the seat back mechanism failed and the seat reclined. God gave him his son back.

When I was in high school a similar situation occurred with a friend of mine. His parents found booze in the car and punished him (I think they took the car away from him for a couple of months), despite his claim that "someone else left it there."

It turns out he was right about someone else leaving it there -- and the "someone else" paid a very high price for it. The retribution involved an @ss-kicking and some vandalism to the other person's car -- so in the long run I think a good lesson was learned all around.
