GONE WITH THE WIND - 2008"There was a land of Publishers and Editors called the Newspaper Business... Here in this pretty world Journalism took its last bow... Here was the last ever to be seen of Reporters and their Enablers, of Anonymous Sources and of Stringers... Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered. A Civilization Gone With the Wind..."
With apologies to Margaret Mitchell...
Oh, fiddlededee!

Shares of several newspaper publishers fell to 52-week lows Wednesday...52-week lows? New York Times stock is trading at a 10+ year low; McClatchy looks to be at a 16-year low:
McClatchy bought Knight-Ridder (including my hometown rag, the Charlotte Observer) last year for more than the current total market cap of McClatchy.

Pinch will be taking THE new york times private when the stock hits $5.

Just filled out a Harris Poll comparing my print version reading with my
online reading of news sources. Needless to say, the online reading is growing while the print reading is, well, pretty pathetic these days. I still read the Wall Street Journal for its coverage of international news.
