McCain supports Geneva treaty conventions for terrorist and supports congressional oversight military interrogations. I don’t call that being strong on national defense. As far as as opposing abortion, it was a position of convenience and has remained so.
McCain is opposed to lower taxes. He helped right McCain Feingold and supports Gay marriage, and amnesty (he doesn’t call it that any more).
McCain is a leftist.
I am not a political supporter of John McCain, but I do have immense respect for his service as a naval officer. And while I strongly oppose the application of Geneva conventions to terrorist detainees, I fully understand the personal circumstances which affect McCain's judgment on that issue. When the North Vietnamese captured John McCain III, they captured the son of the our top theater commander -- Admiral John McCain, Jr. was CINCPAC (Commander in Chief of Pacific Command) during most of his son's five years as a POW. We can only imagine what they did to McCain simply because of who his father was, so he gets a pass from me on that issue. Other than that, McCain does have a sterling record on national defense in general and in support of the current war effort in particular.
As far as as opposing abortion, it was a position of convenience and has remained so.
That may be, but due to his other major negatives (see below), I never even considered McCain's abortion stand.
McCain is opposed to lower taxes. He helped right[sic] McCain Feingold and supports Gay marriage, and amnesty (he doesnt call it that any more). McCain is a leftist.
Bingo! THOSE are the reasons I cannot support McCain.
