Little-Known Candidate Walks The Walk

I agree Mr. Stathis! I have some good news for you and other Republicans or Americans who are disillusioned with the candidates at large. There is a candidate that fits so much of what the conservative base wants.
I think he is such a good fit that he is being completely ignored by the national media. I am severely disappointed in the national Republican Party that they have not done more to hold this candidate up.

Base Republicans do not want RINOS such as McCain, Huckabee or Guiliani. I know it is a long shot, as this man has not been given the national face time as many of the others. But at least I can say that I have told as many as I can: Duncan Hunter.

Look up his Web site and you will see that in many instances when he not only talked the talk, but he walked the walk.

Protectionism? That could have been said by any union straw boss.

Without someone like Hunter walking the talk on national sovereignty, fiscal conservatism, strong military and stiff criminal punishments, 2nd Amendment and pro-Life, what’s there to protect?

Protectionism is an ignorant, meaningless globalist red herring.

Fair Trade works, free trade kills economies of developed nations for the benefit of their enemies.

Duncan Hunter is a Veteran that served his country and is now being denied the opportunity to be seen much less heard during the debates. It’s a national disgrace!

Protectionism, you mean as in not allowing other countries to charge tariffs on our goods while we charge none on theirs ? That type of protectionism ?

Those types of Freepers are only against Hunter.

And often with a passion.

So that rules them out as being "conservatives". A conservative would not do that, but a RINO, a centrist, a Rockefeller-wing Ripon Republican Firster would, but not a fundamental conservative.

But if you go look up their FR posting history, you will get the bigger picture. Often they are doctrinaire centrist Republican Firsters, not conservatives, or they are for NAFTA, or for Open Borders/Amnesty, and such other nonsense. They are disruptors, especially when they post comment after comment on a Duncan Hunter thread, so lets just ignore them.

Hunter walks the walk on protectionism. No thanks Duncan.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Protectionism?

There is a balance you know.

Safe Sex is not protectionism.

Safe trade is not protectionism Heres a Quarter, Call me when our currecny is devalued to 50 cents on the Canadian dollar, Its at about 98 now.

Seeking a balance of trade is not protectionism.

You sound like you simply repeat a talking point from the Paul campaign.

I like Hunter, like him a lot. But he has no chance at all and it might just be that the small support that he does get could push Fred Thompson over the top. There is one magic dollar out there somewhere that could seal the deal for Fred. It would be a shame if it was wasted on Hunter.

Hunter walks the walk on protectionism. No thanks Duncan.

I agree that Duncan Hunter’s belief that the protectionism of other nations is best met with protectionism by the United States is mistaken. But I’ve nevertheless always found Hunter to be a knowledgeable, principled and articulate defender of said mistake.

That’s why I don’t understand how Mike Huckabee, who ‘in 2003... pushed for free trade with Mexico, calling for a “strong market of the Americas” and supported NAFTA (AP 10/03/03)’ somehow seems to have become stolen the “fair trade” protectionist position from Hunter, much as he’s stolen the “Fairtax” mantle from him. The difference seems to be that Huckabee is sunny, funny and “feels the pain” of others ala Clinton, whereas Hunter is somber and serious. Or maybe voters feel that, in terms of a political career, a person who has “only” been a representative shouldn’t be president... One can only guess why Hunter, who has carried water for these issues for years in principled fashion, is being left in the dust by someone else who, whether sincere or not, just came to them.
