The guys at our school who were cheerleaders and in gymnastics were among the most sought-after by the girls. One was the top football player in the school. Absolutely none were wussies or gay, and you wouldn’t have wanted to tangle with him.

I had a roommate in college who was on the cheerleading team. Although we never discussed this, it became clear that he was not 100% heterosexual. In general though I don't think this would necessarily be true.

As for Bush, when he attended Andover it was an all-male school.
