Michigan Next, G.O.P. Rivals Turn to the Economy
...snip...
Mr. Romney told an audience of more than 200 at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids that Michigans economic woes were personal to him and said the states prospects were tied up with the nations.
He talked at length about his roots in the state, where he was born and reared, drawing applause when he recalled his father, George, who was governor of Michigan. He went on to recall campaigning as a teenager for his father, whose slogan was about getting Michigan on the move again.
Were going to make sure this state gets on the move again, Mr. Romney said. I care about Michigan. For me, its personal. Its personal for me because its where I was born and raised.
Earlier in the day, after hearing from a voter who recalled his father, Mr. Romney choked up momentarily, according to a pool reporter who was present. He was a great man, and I miss him dearly, Mr. Romney said.

I am glad you think you are cute but you are just gonna get it posted 4-5 times. There is a reason for using the right title.
Not trying to be cute, just drawing attention to a fact that was buried about 15 paragraphs down in the story and not mentioned in the headline.
your post 3 is a great argument against your post 1. If it doesn’t get any attention, what’s it worth to him?
Fred definitely won the debate tonight. Let the FRED revolution begin!!
Who is Romney?
Romney further cemented his dissolution. He may have not made a mistake but he didn’t win any ground in South Carolina. Huckabee got nuked.
So if the NYT buries it, it’s not news? Sorry I don’t always share the MSM’s agenda.
Crying because of emotion for the memory of one’s father is far different than crying for yourself because you think you are losing. Hillary’s was totally narcissistic.
He was remember with Nostalgia his father who has passed away, what are you heartless? We all choke up when talking about loved ones who have passed away at times, we never know when the lump will be in our throat.
Romney was not choking up over something political, he was choking up over his father who had passed on.
I agree.
Yeah, because it would be totally phony for a man to get emotional recalling his father.
The actual title of the article.
That’s because only a solitary ignoramus would think that was the important part of the story . Have you ever made a public speech about a loved one you miss ?
My nephew passed on 14 years ago, and I STILL cry when I talk about him. Tears shed for the love of others is a beautiful thing - not something to be scorned.
In a public display? Yes, it would.
I say that the next candidate who cries gets hit in the head immediately with a brick. Then they'll have something to cry about.
A point well taken. Many strong men choke up if they talk about a beloved father who has passed on in public.
Pulling a Hillary over missing his father? I cry to this very day over my father and he died when I was 11 yrs old...I am 33 by the way and have no problems crying over my Dad or Mitt.
Grow up.
