Exactly, they do anything to approve a loan. Banks have access to programs that can verify social security numbers. I process rental applications for apartments and I verify every ss#.

Ah... I remember when I was a naive young banker. I overheard a conversation in the adjoining booth at a local eatery. My prospective borrowers were going to the IRS office and obtaining blank copies of IRS forms for the preceding three years. Viola! They filled in the forms, ran them through the copy machine a couple of times. Bingo, they had documented earning history....... Yikes!
