Thanks for your feedback. We can rule out phone line because the HD receiver here isn't hooked up to the phone line.

When you say you reset the format, do you mean for your television, or is there another format menu for the cable box? The zoom +/- for the tv doesn't help the oversized screen format for FNC. For example, the other night we had to switch over to CNN to see the NH election results at the bottom of the screen. They were not visible on FNC.

Does your remote look like this?

Left hand side - second button from the top - buttom labeled "Format" should be set to either a "Pillar box" or "stretch" setting. A "crop" setting cuts of the crawler at the bottom.

Check your TV set also. My grandsons had set the TV to "Zoom" with the TV's remote and I finally found the remote in the...well, let's just say I finally found it and reset the picture.
