It looks like Christian Leader Huckabee is more specifically an evangelical Protestant leader, as the Huckabee flyer that some supporter made up specifies fundamentalist churches, and excludes Catholics.

Last I saw, Catholics were Christians, and really important part of a winning Republican coalition.

My Irish Catholic ancestors immigrated from Canada into Michigan. That was a very popular route for famine refugees, so I would expect well-established Catholic communities in the state. Niles was where my ancestors settled for awhile, then some descendants proceeded to the Midwest.
