I notice you are speaking from your viewpoint in Alabama, deep in the heart of Evangelical territory. Too bad you don’t respect others religions. I am pretty accepting of others life styles, if they don’t try to force theirs on me, that is why I can not stand radical Moslems.
I've attended church services of a number of different denominations including yours, Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Mormon, Native American, Zen and Shinto. I've read and compared various scriptures and Biblical versions of most of the above and more. I've signed the acceptance of Christ as my savior page in my Gideon New Testament and I read it regularly.
But I'm not a regular church goer-- I think most of them are more interested in me as a revenue stream than they are in saving my soul. But I'm confident that God is just and he is more likely to accept my soul as saved than some of the Elmer Gantry characters like Huckabee and the Taliban Christians who want to substitute their philosophies such as man-made global warming and who is and who isn't a cult for genuine truths which can only be discovered by self-study, prayer and being more concerned with pleasing God than in forcing your particular worldview upon others.
In that respect, I'd have to observe that the Taliban Christian's favorite punching bag (Mormons) are closer to the truth than are they as evidenced by their more conservative voting patterns.
