Black South Carolina state Sen. Robert Ford (a Democrat), back in February 2007, warned against a 2008 Democratic ticket headed by Sen. Barack Obama. Mr. Ford said, "It's a slim possibility for [Obama] to get the nomination, but then everybody else is doomed. Every Democrat running on that ticket next year would lose because he's black and he's top of the ticket. We'd lose the House and the Senate and the governors and everything. I'm a gambling man. I love Obama. But I'm not going to kill myself."
Jesse Jackson, too, criticized Mr. Obama, during the so-called Jena Six matter. Authorities in Louisiana charged five of six black youths with attempted murder for beating a white teenager unconscious. Mr. Jackson felt Barack Obama insufficiently critical, and said, "[Mr. Obama] needs to stop acting like he's white."
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson's soul mate, also sounded alarms against Mr. Obama:, "Just because you're our color doesn't make you our kind." Mr. Sharpton also asked, "Why shouldn't the black community ask questions? Are we now being told, 'You all just shut up' " after a published report that he was jealous of Mr. Obama's campaign an accusation Mr. Sharpton attributed to the Obama camp.

Interesting article. The thing that caught my eye was that 3% of those polled said they would not vote for a woman, 4% said they would not vote for a black, but 14% said they would not vote for either a Mormon or a 72-year old.
We better hope Fred Thompson starts pulling in more votes!
Good thing Fred’s not a black female Mormon.
LOL! Black, female, Mormon, AND 72-years old.
Sounds to me like Jackson and Sharpton aren’t ready to give up their de-facto black leadership roles. They’re saying “who is this upstart kid from nowhere”?
[sounded alarms against Mr. Obama]
“Obama is going to blow our whole gig that America is a racist country”
Can you believe this? What would happen to Mr. Ford's world IF Obama were elected President? I don't want Obama as President, but I sure would love to see Ford's world turned upside down.
Nah, he wouldn't miss a beat. Don't assume RATs have integrity.
Ford would be running to go congratulate Obama, shake his hand and hope for a place at the table faster than Chuckie Schumer runs toward a TV camera.
After the “First black President,” Bill Clinton’s tawdry remark that Obama was a “fairy tale,” there should be not one black voter in this country who supports the “First black First Lady.”
