I think a lot of people mistake what’s going on with Condi and our policy towards Israel. Condi and the State Dept. KNOW that there will NOT be a real peace agreement between Israel and the palis because the muslims are not SERIOUS about making peace. However, because we need to placate our muslim allies in the WOT, the USA must SAY certain things publicly and act like there will be a real peace agreement. Right now the Saudis, et al, are far more worried about being overthrown by Al Quaeda or being attacked by a nuclear Iran than they are about Israel. IMHO, the current stance towards Israel is eyewash and propaganda. The palestinians have poisoned their own culture so that any moderate who truly tries to make peace with a two state solution will be killed by his own people. Ergo peace will not come about for a very long time, if ever. I’ll cut Condi some slack.
