CARACAS, Venezuela: President Hugo Chavez threatened again on Friday to seize property from businesses if they are caught hoarding products, as Venezuela struggles with shortages of some basic foods and high inflation.
Chavez warned that price speculation is occurring "at all levels of society, from the big capitalists to the small shopkeepers," and said his government could expropriate property from individuals or companies that purportedly sit on goods for months to sell later them at inflated prices.
"I ask the ministers and lawmakers to pay a lot of attention to this because it's one of the causes of inflation," he said during a marathon address to legislators.

Venezuela used to be the main oil competitive worry for Saudi and Iran. Arabs know the story of the goose that laid the gold egg and are managing their oil much more sanely than this Chavez who first heard of the golden goose just recently and is hunting it down for dinner next week.

They also hired American and later Brit consulting firms to set up and manage government ministries and agencies. The Americans are now mostly gone but their management skills are still influencing the manner in which things are done.

I’ll go out on a limb and predict Chavez is hanging from a lamppost in 5 years. The Venezuelan people are hard-working and are not going to put up with their hard-earned capital being eaten up by inflation.

Venezuela, like Communist Russia has enough oil to prop itself up for the remainder of Chavez's life.
Venezuela is following the same script that all Socialist countries have followed. Chile went through the same thing under Allende, Russia, Germany...
The answer is more oppression. Stealing property from its rightful owners until there is nothing left to steal.
Then masses of Venezuelans will be running for the US border.
