Albanian imams are joining hands in authoring a three-volume book of model Friday sermons to address issues of every-day Muslim life in a European society.
"The book will be first fruit of cooperation between Albanian imams in and outside Kosovo," Sabri Bajgora, chief imam at the Islamic Sheikhdom of Kosovo, told IslamOnline.net on Monday, January 7.
"We hope to continue this kind of cooperation in the future on other important projects."
The idea was born last May out of discussions and meetings involving imams across Kosovo.
"During my tours to different cities, muftis and imams raised the issue of having a book of model sermons to be used as a reference," said Bajgora.
He noted that nearly 90 percent of work on the book has been completed, expecting the it to be ready this summer.
"We hope the book will help teach Albanian society about Islam and its tenets," said imam Bajgora.
He believes it will serve 650 Kosovar imams as well as imams in neighboring Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro.
"It will also be a useful tool for nearly 300 Albanian imams in Europe and the United States."
Bajgora stressed, however, that imams would not be obliged to abide by the book.
Moderation
The sermons are being prepared by a majority of young imams.
"Most of them graduated from Egypt's Al-Azhar University, the Madinah Islamic University in Saudi Arabia and Pristina Islamic University," Qemal Murina, Deputy Dean of the Islamic Studies College in Pristine, told IOL.
The three-volume book would include 156 sermons tackling a wide range of different issues including homicide, human rights in Islam, banking and the environment.
"They will also touch on interfaith dialogue, inter-Muslim dialogue and peaceful coexistence with our non-Muslim neighbors in the Balkans," said professor Murina.
The booked sermons will highlight the moderate teachings of Islam.
"Islam is all about moderation," he insists.
"We are living at the heart of Europe and under are under the microscope. Any hardline ideas would cause us a lot of troubles."
Under the ambitious project, Muslims are planning to issue audio and video copies of the sermons.
"We will use imams and artists with music-to-the-ear voices to record the sermons," said Murina.
Islam is the official religion of UN-administered Kosovo, which is seeking independence from Serbia.

He isn’t ignorant of history. He just doesn’t care about it. All Jorge cares about is money and power for himself and the rest of the internationalist elite he runs with. He has sold this country and its people down the river and hasn’t lost a wink of sleep over it.
On this, I don't think that he is "blind and stupid at all". I think that Bush knows precisely what he is doing. The Bushes have been in the oil business and have had extensive contact with the Arab Muslim world for his entire life. How could he not know?

Bill Clinton did it, George Bush did it, and whoever is next will probably do the same no matter who is elected, because sooner or later the globalists will have them in their pocket.
The Serbs and Serbia has always been the thorn in every Empire's side -- the Ottomans, the Austro-Hungarians, Nazi Germany and now the EU/US.
The Serbs were always on the US' side before this because we believed in "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" and Serbs have the same mindset, "Sloboda ili Smrt!" ("Freedom or Death"). So who has changed to put us on opposite sides now? Unfortunately, we (the US) have.
