More than 40 soldiers from Fort Huachuca are scheduled to return to Southern Arizona this weekend.
The soldiers, members of the U.S. Army's 518th Tactical Installation and Networking Platoon, are scheduled to arrive Sunday at Libby Army Airfield in Sierra Vista, according to a press release.
The unit — based at Fort Huachuca, roughly 75 miles southeast of Tucson — has been deployed to Southwest Asia for 15 months.
Some members served in Iraq, whereas others were stationed in Afghanistan, said Gordon Van Vleet, a spokesman for the unit's command.
The platoon is part of network and communication units based at the post that specialize in satellite and Internet communications.
While deployed, the unit was part of a command responsible for the operation and maintenance of joint coalition computer, communications and command-and-control networks as part of the U.S. Central Command's operations.
