In the U.S. Koreans would be called Asians because they come from the Asian contintent and Indians would not because they come from the Indian continent. But most press reports here wouldn’t use either they would identify the nation of origin. They would however do their best to avoid mentioning any connection to Islam like the British press.
Err, India and Korea are both in Asia. Which was my point. There is no ‘Indian continent’.

It’s a report of a court case. In my experience, the religious affiliation of the victims or defendants does not often come up in a court case, unless directly relevant to the case. Perhaps it is different in US courts.
One can of course make an assumption as to the likely religious affiliation of these defendants from the names given, as you appear to have done. To be honest, I’m happy for the media to give me facts and let me make assumptions for myself, rather than them making assumptions for me. Your mileage may vary.
